Richardson Swift has launched a year–long fundraising drive to raise more than £1000 in aid of Bath charity, the Carers’ Centre.

As part of the initiative, staff took time off work to volunteer at the charity’s annual Pamper and Picnic Day, which saw more than 40 local carers treated to an afternoon of relaxation, including free massages and pamper treatments.

Debbie Boulton, Director at Richardson Swift, explains: “We’re delighted to be backing the Carers’ Centre and the vital support, advice and respite it provides to local carers.

“It’s estimated that three in five of us will become carers in our lifetime, so it’s something that will affect many of us at some point.”

Sonia Hutchinson Chief Executive at the Carers’ Centre, said: ‘It is fantastic to be Richardson Swift’s charity of the year as it helps us both raise awareness and funds, enabling us to support over 4,000 people who care each year.

“Helping people continue to care for someone at home means keeping those people out of hospital and state services and in their familiar home environments. It’s so important,” she adds.

A carer said of the event: ‘It was very relaxed.  Time to meet others and do something for me… such a treat.”

To date, Richardson Swift’s fundraising activities have included a quiz night, a ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ competition and a movie night.  There are also plans for a client/staff raffle in July and a team ‘Santa Dash’ in December.
