An exciting new relationship

Professional advisers to the South West’s dressage community.

Calvin Healy, Tax Manager at Richardson Swift knows a thing or two about horses after many an hour spent ring-side supporting his wife, Sarah, and her beloved horse, Bear.

Calvin – chauffeur and groom - is an avid supporter, attending lessons, camps, dressage qualifiers and competitions. He knows all the movements, and even plays the occasional coaching role - calling a test from the edge of the arena or walking it to calculate the 15 metre circles and serpentines.

The mathematical bit is easy for Calvin, and it was this background as a Chartered Accountant that got him talking to Amanda Heath, South West RDO for BDSW. She says now: “I loved Calvin’s genuine interest in dressage, combined with his understanding of the absolute precision it demands. He said that his accountancy brain was well suited to it!”.

And it was then that the idea of inviting Richardson Swift Chartered Accountants to be lead accountancy sponsor was born. As Calvin said, “There is a real symmetry between dressage and what a good accountant does. Precision and calculation is vital to getting it spot-on, and the relationship of trust between client and adviser is key”.

Richardson Swift is a 28-strong practice in Bath, serving clients in Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. They are the trusted advisers of owner managed businesses, private individuals and their families on the full range of accountancy and tax issues which may affect them over the years.

Commenting on the new partnership with BDSW, Calvin said “I have seen first-hand the incredible role BDSW plays in supporting and educating riders and judges alike. This ultimately feeds through to the grass roots of the sport and I’m really pleased that my firm will play a prominent role in furthering BDSW’s profile in 2017”.
